This is my sweet friend Jessica's son Korbin. Korbin is an amazing person who has been handed a few hard tasks in life. When he was on 18 months old he was diagnosed with Diabetes. That was such a heart wrenching time for his parents and family. I'll never forget seeing his sweet little face laying in that metal crib at the hospital, nurses coming to poke at him every few hours. Through that event however Korbin gained a strength unlike any Ive ever known. He has learned all he can about his diabetes and takes care of it with such maturity. Now after all he's been through these last 7 years you would think the boy could catch a break. That's not the case. Hence the purpose for my post. Korbin had been having a bit of pain in his hip and leg for some time. His mom or doctors couldn't put their finger on what it could be. After x-rays and other tests the discovered he has Perthes Disease. Perthes is a condition in children characterized by a temporary loss of blood supply to the hip. Without an adequate blood supply, the rounded head of the femur (the " ball " of the " ball and socket " joint of the hip) dies. The area becomes intensely inflamed and irritated. What a blow this was to their family. They have been overwhelmed with bills after bills with all that Korbin needs. Korbin just had surgery yesterday to receive some hard ware in his hip.
As you can tell this was a very very painful procedure, followed by high blood sugars, and an upper respitory infection. He however has a spirit stronger than anyone I have ever met and is fighting back. He will be in the hospital until Sunday and will be in a wheel chair for 6 weeks. Followed by intense intense physical therapy to learn to walk again.
So why am I sharing this you might ask? This is because I need your help. I am doing this fund raiser called cash for Korbin. I'm trying to get together a little cash for his parents to help them with some of the medical expenses. I know that times are hard for everyone so anything would be great. And if you cannot offer money please please keep him and his family in your prayers. I love this little boy deeply and his mom is a rock. She is such a great person, friend, mother and wife. I have posted some pictures of Korbin just before his surgery and just after. I know what you're thinking too....... yes he is a handsome boy thats going to get alot of ladies and thats no thanks to his daddy, its all mom.
